....2007 Winners
The 2007 Oak Memorial Scholarship recipient is most definitely spiritually connected to the Foundation and the scholarship's namesake. Aaron Buyanovsky, a senior at JFK High School in Bellmore, tragically lost his mother in a horrendous house fire. Her last breath before she collapsed and died was to scream Aaron's name to wake and warn him in order that he escape the flames. Thanks to this mother's selfless love and your support of the O'Keefe Foundation scholarship, Aaron will be attending Hofstra University as a journalism major this fall.
The 2007 Honorable Mention scholarship was awarded to Richard Ophals. Richard is a senior at Lynbrook High School who lost his stepfather to a vicious gang attack. His dad was brutally stabbed as he walked from the Lynbrook train station. He died on the back steps of his home. Thanks to our support of the O'Keefe Foundation's Scholarship program, Richard will be attending Roger Williams University in the fall as an engineering major.
